Product Details

(Phaseolus acutifolius)

A hardy, drought-tolerant heirloom bean. Blue Speckled Tepary thrives in hot, dry conditions where other beans struggle, producing small, flavourful beans ideal for soups, stews, and hearty salads. Fast-maturing, resilient, and perfect for waterwise gardens. It is believed that it is of Mayan decent.

  • Sow in warm weather once soil reaches 20–30°C — tepary beans love heat.
  • Plant 2–3 cm deep, spacing 10–15 cm apart in full sun.
  • Avoid overwatering — these beans are naturally drought-tolerant and prefer dry conditions.
  • No fertiliser needed; too-rich soil encourages leaves over pods.
  • Harvest when pods dry on the plant for the best flavour and storage.
